Support
CTL Classroom Support provides primary support to over 300 general assignment classrooms with various levels of AV, data, and presentation technology. Our office also provides technology trainings, equipment cabinet keys for general assignment classrooms, and access to equipment. The classrooms are scheduled by the Campus Reservations either online at www.reservations.uga.edu or by phone at 706-543-8020. CTL also provides selected secondary support to over 100 additional departmental classrooms, labs, conference rooms and other facilities scheduled by the controlling campus unit.
CTL's Classroom Support houses four support specialists who assist instructors in different zones on campus. They have offices in each of the zones in order to provide timely response and support to faculty teaching in classrooms across campus. Consultation and Training
Technology has opened up a broad spectrum of opportunities for instructors. Classroom Technology Specialists provide training and consultation on a wide variety of instructional technology. Although there are technology standards for the classroom on campus, each room is unique. Speak with the classroom support specialist in your area about:
- what technology is available in your classroom;
- how to control the equipment in the classroom;
- meeting with you to show you the location of the equipment in the room;
- what to do in the case of an equipment malfunction;
- additional technology you would like to use in your classroom;
Technology
Almost all of the general assignment classrooms are equipped with a data projector, computer input, VCR, and DVD player. Over 100 general assignment classrooms have a full complement of AV and data presentation equipment, as well as data and cable television connectivity and an emergency telephone for immediate support. Equipment in these "media and technology-enhanced classrooms" also will include most or all of the following:
- Projector for large screen display of all video and computer sources
- A sound system for program and voice enhancement
- Wireless lavalier lapel microphone for instructor
- Wireless handheld mic for students or the instructor
- Document camera for projection of papers, graphics, small objects
- Touchscreen control panel of all equipment and room lighting
- DVD and VHS player
- Special requested items such as tablets and controllers for annotations and drawings and videoconferencing cameras for capturing lecture presentations or connecting to remote locations
