"Let's Talk"
A
Tape Series for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
An
audio tape series written by Nancy Kropf, PhD, from the University
of Georgia's School of Social Work was created for grandparents
who are raising their grandchildren. Each tape contains a conversation
between a grandparent and someone who is a source of information
on the tape's topic. The tapes range in length from 11 to 23 minutes
long and because you're listening to a conversation, you don't
have to listen to a tape all it once. It's easy to turn off the
tape and listen at a later time without feeling like you missed
something important. The tapes were written to fit easily into
a grandparent's busy day and help balance caring for their grandchildren
- and caring for themselves!
TOPICS
Each
of the 8 tapes covers a different topic that is important to many
grandparents. Here are some of the topics on the tape series:
- Taking
care of your health
- Being
involved in relationships with family and friends
- Addressing
your legal questions and concerns like custody, guardianship,
or having a will
- Finding
resources in the community for you and your grandchildren
- Making
the best of your relationship with your grandchild(ren)
- AND,
taking care of yourself
